The Thackray Medical Museum, Leeds, established and supported with the assistance of the Trust
The Thackray Medical Research Trust was originally an unincorporated grant-giving trust, constituted under a trust deed dated 12 April 1990 by Charles Paul Thackray. Though its aims and objects are unchanged, since April 2019 it has been a charitable incorporated organisation, charity number 1181361.
The Trust’s primary aim is to support the work of The Thackray Medical Museum (www.thackraymedicalmuseum.co.uk), an innovative museum of medical history with a nationally significant collection of objects, archives and books relating to the history of the medical supply trade. However the Trust usually awards a number of other grants each year, in areas covering:
- Research, supply and evaluation of medical products and supplies for developing countries and the UK
- Research and publication on the history of medical products and supplies.

From 2018-2020 the Museum will be undergoing major redevelopment and the amount available for extra awards will be limited: you are strongly encouraged to read the Guide to Applicants and/or contact the Trust for further advice before making a speculative application.
