Obituary – Paul Thackray

An enduring legacy of Paul’s life, work and interests, the Thackray Medical Research Trust (TMRT) was founded by Paul, in 1990, through his personal donation of funds from the sale to DePuy of Chas. F. Thackray Ltd, the family-owned, Leeds-based, medical products and supplies company.
The first task of the TMRT Trust was to establish a medical museum. The Thackray Medical Museum was successfully opened in Leeds in 1997.
Thanks to Paul, the TMRT continues to allocate grants. It has supported medical research projects and charitable international medical supply organisations, alongside enabling research, development and projects at the museum. Paul continued to actively follow and support the work of the Trust. For years to come, museum visitors, patients in the UK and people with various illnesses and disabilities at home and overseas will benefit from Paul’s foresight and generosity.
